Join Farmer Dave’s Somerville CSA

What is a CSA?
CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture and puts consumers in a relationship with the production of their food by partnering with the farmer directly.

How does it work?
Farmer Dave of Dracut, MA is currently growing food that will be harvested weekly for 18 weeks from Wednesday, July 2 through Wednesday, October 29. You can share in this harvest by becoming a member and then pick up your share on Wednesdays at Architectural Openings at 16 Garfield Ave, in Somerville, MA between 3pm – 7pm.

What kind of food will I get?
Farmer Dave will offer several options for the season, a New England, Central American, or Brazilian variety. The weekly share will vary slightly depending on what is in season. You will receive high quality, fresh, locally grown produce picked within 24 hours of your pick-up. Please refer to the availability list on a separate page. The food on his farm is raised with Integrated Pest Management techniques, which minimizes the use of pesticides or herbicides.

What are the benefits of joining a CSA?
As a CSA member you have a direct connection to the source of your food and the farmer. High quality, fresh, locally grown produce that tastes better! Better nutrition can lead to better health. This is also a chance for your family to explore different foods. If you split a share with another house, this can be a quite economical way to get very fresh vegetables all season.

How much does it cost?
• A two to four person vegetable share costs $360 for the 18 week season (an average of $20/week)
• A four to six person vegetable share costs $540 for the 18 week season (an average of $30/week)
• An administration fee $30 to help to cover the costs to manage this program.

Payment Schedule:

We encourage full payment by the May 23 registration deadline but also have a payment plan option that allows you to play in four equal installments, by the following dates: May 23, July 2, August 6, and September 3.

How can I become a Member?
